Canaan, Wilbekin could nab a 2G spot

"You know you look at [Scottie] Wilbekin … and say he's a two-guard," Sixers coach Brett Brown said. "He can shoot, and that's true. I can look at Isaiah [Canaan] and say he's not always a point guard. Let him go be, pick him, Lou Williams. He's a barrel-chested scorer."
So don't assume that it's point guard or bust for the duo.
Brown had said the team was going to keep only three point guards. Injured veterans Tony Wroten (knee) and Kendall Marshall (knee) are expected to make the squad. The same can be said about undrafted rookie T.J. McConnell, who has been impressive in the preseason.
"So some of those guys, like those two [Canaan and Wilbekin], you are not really buckling it up into point guards," Brown said. "Maybe he's in competition with [shooting guard] Jordan McRae. You know, I should be looking at one of those instead of Jordan.
'So it's all on the table. It's truly all on the table."
Even though Canaan or Wilbekin might move to another position, both would also provide much-needed point-guard depth early in the season. Marshall is out until at least November, and Wroten could return in December.
Canaan is the only healthy point guard with NBA regular-season experience, as McConnell, Wilbekin and Pierre Jackson are rookies.
The Sixers have some preconceived ideas about who will make the cut entering Friday's preseason finale against the Boston Celtics in New Hampshire. However, Brown said the roster "isn't even close to being set."
