Eagles-Rams stock watch: Saquon Barkley, Jalen Carter up after playoff win
With the snow falling in swirls at Lincoln Financial Field, the Eagles pulled off a gutsy 28-22 win against the Los Angeles Rams to punch their ticket to the NFC championship game. The Eagles will play the Washington Commanders next Sunday with a chance to go to the Super Bowl.
Up: Jalen Carter
With the Eagles on the ropes, Jalen Carter delivered a perfect counterpunch. The second-year defensive tackle forced a fumble late in the third quarter and had a game-deciding sack with the Rams driving late in the game. Carter had two sacks, three tackles for losses, and the forced fumble in a statement performance.
Down: The CB depth chart
The Eagles suffered two injuries at cornerback, losing Quinyon Mitchell early and coping with Isaiah Rodgers missing time a few quarters later. Mitchell suffered a shoulder injury while tackling Matthew Stafford on a scramble in the first quarter. Rodgers replaced the rookie, but also missed time in the fourth quarter.
Up: Saquon Barkley
After a historic performance against the Rams in the regular season, Saquon Barkley picked up right where he left off in the early going. The running back rattled off a 62-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter to give the Eagles the lead. Barkley finished with 205 yards and two long touchdown runs.
Down: Jalen Hurts’ health
Although he didn’t miss any time, Jalen Hurts suffered an apparent left knee injury that resulted in him limping off the field and spending time in the medical tent in the third quarter. He exited the tent in time for the Eagles’ next drive, but conceded a safety after taking a sack in the end zone.
Neutral: Jake Elliott
Jake Elliott made a trio of pivotal field goals to pad the Eagles' lead, but missed two extra points that kept the game within reach for the Rams late in the fourth quarter. Overall, Elliott deserves credit for the role he played in the win, but his inconsistency lingers.
Up: Zack Baun
Even without Nakobe Dean serving as his running mate, Zack Baun swarmed around the middle of the Eagles' defense, wreaking havoc. The linebacker had a tackle for loss, a pass breakup, and recovered a fumble as the game hung in the balance early in the fourth quarter.
