Two men were killed in separate shootings in Philadelphia early Tuesday, police said.

The first shooting occurred about 12:25 a.m. on the 800 block of North 12th Street in North Philadelphia.

Officers responding to a call for a "person with a gun" found 27-year-old Jhalil Washington of the 2200 block of North Bouvier Streetman suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and arms, police said. The officers took him to Hahnemann University Hospital, where Washington, of the 2200 block of North Bouvier Street, was pronounced dead at 1:32 a.m.

Police said they have established no motive and lack a description of a suspect.

About two hours later, officers responding to a call for a shooting found a man who had been shot in the head on the 2200 block of South 71st Street in Southwest Philadelphia, police said. The victim, identified as 25-year-old Jason Roberts, of Chester, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:41 a.m.

Again, police said they had no description of a suspect or a possible motive.

The slayings bring to six the number of homicides so far this year, compared to 17 in 2017.
