One dead in crash of small plane

HAMILTON, N.J. A small, homebuilt aircraft crashed late Friday afternoon in woods in Hamilton Township, Atlantic County, authorities said. One person was killed, the Associated Press reported. There was no passenger aboard, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating, the FAA said.

The accident occurred just before 5 p.m. near Columbia Road and Cypress Street, less than a mile from the Atlantic City Expressway and about five miles northwest of Atlantic City International Airport.

The plane was an RV-7A sold by Van's Aircraft, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
