Sixers Notes: Bynum says he'll play vs. Sixers on Friday

Cleveland Cavaliers center Andrew Bynum told reporters he would play against the 76ers Friday night at the Wells Fargo Center. The former Sixer said he would sit out Saturday's contest against Philadelphia in Cleveland.

"I think they'll probably boo, but that's their choice," Bynum said of Sixers fans during Wednesday's shootaround in Milwaukee. "It wasn't my choice to get rid of me. I don't feel bad at all. . . . If I was not hurt, I would've played. That's really the end to that story."

The Sixers acquired Bynum from the Los Angeles Lakers in a four-team trade in August 2012. Bynum, who made $16.9 million last season, never played for the Sixers because of chronically injured knees.

He signed a two-year, $24 million deal with the Cavs this summer. However, only $6 million of the deal is guaranteed. Cleveland also has a team option for the second season.

Bynum, 26, averaged 6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, and 12.3 minutes in the three games he played before Wednesday's against the Bucks.

Jason Richardson said he's still on pace to return in late January or early February from a left kneecap injury.

The Sixers guard is swimming but has not been cleared to run. Richardson suffered the season-ending injury in January.

The Sixers will hire Rod Baker to coach their NBA Development League affiliate, the Delaware 87ers, the league confirmed.

Baker was an assistant for the D-League's Bakersfield Jam last season. Before that, he spent the last seven seasons as the Rochester RazorSharks' head coach. The RazorSharks joined the Premier Basketball League in 2008 after two seasons in the American Basketball Association. Baker led Rochester to three PBL titles and one ABA championship.
