Looks like Andre Iguodala used the Sixers to get a better deal with the Warriors

It looks like the former Sixers All-Star used Philadelphia to drive up his price to Golden State.

Who needs Adrian Wojnarowski when you have Andre Iguodala.

Amid speculation where the 33-year-old free-agent could end up (including reports the Sixers were among the teams interested in signing him), Iguodala scooped everyone – including ESPN's newest NBA news breaker – and confirmed that he would be returning to the Golden State Warriors.

Soon after Iguodala's tweet, Wojnarowski and fellow ESPN scribe Chris Haynes reported that the 2015 NBA Finals MVP has agreed to a new three-year, $48 million deal to return to the Warriors.

On Saturday, Iguodala was reportedly scheduled to meet with the Sixers, but canceled. Sixers beat reporter Keith Pompey wrote last week that Igudoala didn't appear to have any real interest in returning to Philadelphia, and that his agent was just using the Sixers to drive up the price for his services.

"Let's face it: The Sixers have a ton of cap space, just as they did in the previous four seasons," Pompey wrote. "So, on occasion, some player agents leak out news that their clients are being pursued by Philadelphia."

It appears to have worked, as ESPN reports the Warriors upped their initial offer "by a couple million" and pulled back from adding a partial guarantee on the third year of the deal.

The Sixers drafted Iguodala with the ninth overall pick in the 2004 NBA draft. He played for the team for 8 seasons before being traded to the Denver Nuggets back in 2012 as part a three-team deal that brought Andrew Bynum to Philadelphia. He was traded to the Warriors in 2013.

For his career, Iguodala has averaged 13 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game. He has won two NBA Championships with the Warriors, and was named the 2015 NBA Finals MVP.
